Guitar World's Print Review of the ROS-06

Guitar World Reviews the Recording King ROS-06 acoustic guitar

Recording King Introduces the RP-06, 0-Style Body

Recording King introduces the RP-06, the world's most high-value 0-style guitar.

From the same series and built with the same appointments as the best-selling RD-06, the RP-06 sports a solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides. The 12-fret neck joint and corresponding bridge positioning give the RP-06 the warm, mellow, full-bodied tone guitarists look for in a classic 12-fret model. With a 1-3/4" nut, the RP-06 is comfortable for either fingerpicking or strumming. The vintage-style 0-style body is great for travel, stage or couch, and thanks to the 25.4" scale, still has the same volume and projection as a full size instrument.

The simple, unadorned headstock and the tortoise body binding are integral characteristics of Recording King Classic Series guitars, but don't let the minimal ornamentation fool you, the RP-06 is built by the same artisans who craft our popular ROS-626 instruments. No matter your playing style, these guitars have the features to impress both advanced and recreational players and can even fit in an airline compartment. The RP-06 has vintage style that's familiar as an old friend, but won't cramp your style or wallet.

RECORDING KING INTRODUCES THE 327: AN ADIRONDACK TOP, NITROCELLULOSE FINISHED GUITAR, PRICED UNDER $1000

Recording King is proud to introduce our all-new 327 with an Adirondack spruce top, nitrocellulose lacquer finish and exquisite M.O.P and abalone inlay.  It’s the perfect choice for players who want a guitar made from some of the best materials available, but priced for everyone.

The Recording King 327 is available in either dreadnought (RD) or 000-style (RO) body shapes.  The top is made from solid AAA Adirondack spruce.  Adirondack has been a prized choice for guitar tops since the 1920’s.  It is generally considered to be more resonant that Sitka spruce and it also has a unique wide-grain pattern that makes Adirondack guitars aesthetically unique.  For many years, Adirondack spruce was rare or unavailable; even now, guitars with Adirondack spruce tops are among the most expensive and sought-after models.

The back and sides of both the RD- and RO-327 are made from solid East Indian Rosewood.  The 327 has a nut width of 1-3/4” and the one-piece neck is fitted to the body with a hand-cut dovetail joint.  The fretboard is made from ebony, as is the bridge.  With extensively detailed abalone top purfling, rosette, and torch-style headstock inlay, the 327 looks as beautiful as it sounds.  The guitar is finished in a thin coat of nitrocellulose lacquer for resonance and historical accuracy.

From most guitar builders, just one of the 327’s professional features would be enough to ratchet its price over $1000, but Recording King delivers this unbelievable combination of hand-crafted design, aesthetic beauty and unparalleled warmth and projection for a MAP of $974.99.  No company can match Recording King’s combination of features and value in historically designed, handcrafted instruments.

RECORDING KING INTRODUCES THE ALL-NEW MADISON RK-R35 BANJO

Recording King continues to bring professional-quality banjos to market that offer the best values available. With the addition of the all-new Madison RK-R35, banjo players have an option of a high-quality, great-sounding banjo with a classic Mastertone-style tone ring and flange.

The Recording King Madison RK-R35 is built around a 3-ply steam bent maple rim, from the exact same construction and materials used in the best-selling RK-R80. It has a maple neck with an adjustable two-way truss rod and a comfortable rosewood fretboard. With a 24-hook brass tension hoop, players can adjust the head tension as precisely as on any world-class banjo. The planetary tuners, geared 5th peg and dual coordinator rods are effective professional components, and add an authentic feel to these impressive banjos.

The Madison RK-R35 has a maple resonator with a hand-rubbed brown matte finish. It is assembled with a Mastertone-style bell brass cast tone ring and a Mastertone-style one-piece flange. The Madison peghead and fretboard feature our Seagull inlay, for a banjo that looks as classic as it sounds.

The American threaded nickel-plated hook and nut hardware, as well as the true presto-style tailpiece and armrest are the same as featured on the popular RK-Scout. Like the other Madison banjos, the Madison Deluxe comes standard with an authentic Remo head.
